When I lived in Toronto, my husband’s aunt and uncle took us sailing on Lake Ontario many times. There’s a distinct freedom about it, especially when you get to lie on deck while others do the work! This painting embraces the loose brushwork and soft color palette typical of Impressionism, while also incorporating modern elements. The depiction of a sailboat on calm waters, along with the subtle blending of colors, conveys tranquility and motion, central to Impressionist works. This piece will take you to the lake where you, too, can sail away.
