Atlantic Lookout

This painting was inspired by a beautiful photo by Tom Cochrane of Newfoundland. I follow his Instagram account for images of “the island” and in particular, the Gros Morne National Park, where I camped overnight with my husband (a million years ago). 😉

The artwork captures a serene scene by the coastline, where the ocean meets the land. The soft brushstrokes and light play within the painting align it with Impressionism, particularly focusing on a landscape subcategory. The artwork emphasizes the fleeting effects of light and color, typical of the Impressionist style, and includes a person observing the vast sea, which adds a contemplative element to the piece.

“It took 485 million years for Mother Nature to create Gros Morne National Park, a place unlike any other on earth. A UNESCO World Heritage Site covering 1,805 square kilometres, the park is a never-ending series of wonders and delights, and a demonstration of the spectacularly raw and enigmatic beauty of the physical world. ” Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism
